Chamber Golf Outing coming Sept. 9

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Annual Scholarship Golf Outing is slated for Friday, Sept. 9 at Buckeye Hills Country Club.

Spaces are still available for foursomes at the event, which raises money for scholarships. The $200 team registration includes golf and a lunch. Players may also purchase mulligans, enter a poker tournament and get a ticket for the golf ball drop.

The Golf Ball Drop fundraiser is now selling tickets $5 each or six for $20. Prior to the outing, numbered golf balls will be dropped onto the green. The balls closest to the hole will win cash prizes. Payouts are first place $250, second place $150 and third place $50. Tickets may be purchased at the Chamber office, from Chamber board members or ambassadors, or at the upcoming Business After Hours event.

“We hope to continue the tradition of helping students pursue their college dreams with more scholarships this year,” said Chamber director Whitney Gentry. “With that in mind we are asking everyone to either participate in the outing or purchase some golf ball drop tickets.”

Last year the Chamber awarded $4,500 in scholarships to seniors from Miami Trace Local Schools, Washington Court House City Schools and Fayette Christian School, in addition to a $1,000 scholarship to an established Southern State Community College student.
