Large vendor sale set for this weekend

Becky’s Country Candles Crafter’s Yardsale will be held this weekend – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The event will be held at the home of Becky and Max Corns at 6685 Boyd Road. Becky said that there is no admission to the event and free parking is available with necessary facilities located around the sale.

“There is no charge for the vendors as many of them who are out here selling have to pay fees to set up anywhere and we wanted to provide them a real money making opportunity,” Becky said. “We were able to get the stumps and trees removed from the storm, the weather looks like it will cooperate this weekend, and we will have up to 190 vendors at the sale. I want to thank the vendors for staying with me for so long. I have been planning this since February and there are vendors who have been with me since then, waiting for updates and more, and now they are going to be setting up in just a couple days. I appreciate their patience because if it was not for all of our vendors, we would not be able to hold this event.”

After a successful first year, the couple decided that they wanted to continue donating their time and space to be used for this large vendor fair. She said that this year they will have four food vendors, handicap parking, multiple shuttles coming between the parking lot and the sale, and benches to rest at while at the sale.

One of their goals, the couple said, is to provide an event where anyone, no matter age or physical ability, would be able to attend. They encourage the use of scooters, hover-chairs and wheelchairs for anyone with a disability so they can attend as well.

“We had about 80 vendors show up last year and the goal, which we have met, was to double the amount of vendors,” Corns said during an interview recently. “My shop will also be open and will feature my fall stuff. We have produce and meat vendors, veggie vendors as well as antiques, primitives, quilts and a large assortment of hand-made items. We will also have a barn salvage and demo worker, and a lot more, including several commercial vendors. We even have a vendor coming all the way from Tennessee with gourd creations. It’s amazing to me to see all of the people that this brings together. I always enjoy seeing people rekindle friendships when they see each other here, and it’s amazing to bring the community together to support these vendors.”
