Craft yard sale returns Aug. 6-7

After a successful first year, Becky Corns and her husband, Max, are once again donating their time and space to be used for a large vendor fair in August.

Becky’s Country Candles Crafter’s Yardsale will be held on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. As of the last count, about 160 vendors will be at the sale, according to Corns.

“We had about 80 show up last year and we are hoping to double that number for this year,” Corns said during an interview on Tuesday. “My shop will also be open and will feature my fall stuff. We have produce and meat vendors, veggie vendors as well as antiques, primitives, quilts and a large assortment of hand-made items. We will also have a barn salvage and demo worker, food vendors and a lot more including several commercial vendors.”

Corns stressed the importance of this show for the vendors, as with any sale there is usually a cost to set up a booth, but for her sale there is no cost. She said that it is a way to pay it forward.

“There is no charge for the vendors as many of them who are out here selling have to pay fees to set up anywhere,” Corns said. “I wanted to give the vendors an opportunity to come and sell their goods without stressing about paying for the set up. It allows them, even those who have less time as they work a full-time job, a chance to come and get their name out there. I always encourage people to come out and check out the vendors as some of them are trying to do what they really like to do and could use the support.”

The event will be held at Corns’ home at 6685 Boyd Road. Corns said that there is no admission to the event and free parking is available with necessary facilities located around the sale. Additionally, she has three photographers coming offering photos throughout the event as well as information on their businesses.

“Recently, during the storms, we had some straight-line winds knock down a few trees in the yard,” Corns said. “So until we are able to remove the trees, which we are expecting will be soon, we won’t be able to finish the map showing where everyone will be during the sale. We are happy to bring back the vendor sale, and we hope the community will come out and join us.”
