The Fayette Humane Society will have a “Pawjama” Party Adoption event that will take place this Friday, July 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at its downtown Adoption and Business Center.
Adoption fees will be reduced to $35 for this event. There will be an additional reduced fee if a person adopts while wearing pajamas.
The adoption and business center will be lit by home lamps, the staff and volunteers will be wearing pajamas, snacks and drinks will be provided and a movie will be playing.
“July is typically a slow month for adoptions so we wanted to have a reduced adoption fee event that would be fun and draw more people to our humane society to adopt after regular hours. It worked well for a humane society out west so we wanted to try it here,” Brad Adams, outreach director, said. “We encourage everyone to join us and visit the humane society and our kittens.”
Hundreds of cats enter the Fayette Humane Society every year. The Society has tons of cute, cuddly kittens in addition to mellow, older cats and everything in between. According to adoption coordinator and animal care specialist Nikki Hagler, there are currently approximately 40 kittens at the Humane Society’s Adoption Center that are ready to find their family.
“I am looking forward to helping find these babies a loving home,” Hagler said. “We have lots of kitties entering the shelter needing a forever family. Our kittens are vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, tested for FeLV, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.”
The Fayette Humane Society’s Adoption and Business Center is located at 153 S. Main St., Suite. 3 in downtown Washington Court House.
The Fayette Humane Society is a non-profit (501(c)(3), volunteer organization. They receive less than 2 percent of their support from governmental organizations and therefore must rely on donations, grants and fundraising to carry out their mission. The Humane Society is the only organization in Fayette County able to respond to calls about abused, neglected and injured domestic animals, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
