The Fayette County Health Department has announced the successful winners from the 16th program of Rolling Rimples.

Rolling Rimples is a four-month weight loss program for local businesses in the community. Once a month each person gets weighed, they receive a piece of fruit donated by Kroger, which is greatly appreciated, and they also get healthy, new recipes to fix and healthful tips or hints on how to lose weight. This program consisted of 13 businesses, 26 teams and 113 individuals all together. So the whole group together lost 458.1 pounds – that is some lost Rimples!

Two nurses go to each business once a month and tally their weights. Each business is broken up into teams of four or five depending on how many people they have. The competition this time was really competitive and fun to watch! We had very successful “losers” for this event. The first place team went to The Bunker Gang, which was made up of Mike Meadows, Valerie Robinette, Dan Vaughn, Debbie Southward, and Amy Jackson. This team together lost a total of 117 pounds. Each individual received a $50 gift card on the first place team.

The top individual winner was Mike Meadows, losing 43.8 pounds. Mike is the information systems manager for Fayette County. He received a $100 gift card. Second place was Valerie Robinette, who works for Fayette County Water and Sewer Services, losing 32.2 pounds and she received a $50 gift card. Third place was Heath Link from Farm Credit, losing 28.2 pounds and receiving a $25 gift card.

Congratulations to the winners and everyone that participated. Taking care of ourselves is so important and watching our weight is one of the main ways to good health. As they say “Health is our first Wealth!”

If anyone is interested in joining Rolling Rimples we will start a new program in August of this year, so just call Jeannie Bihl R.N.at the Health Department at 740-335-5910.
