Washington Fire Department reports

The Washington Fire Department recently responded to the following:

JAN. 21

ALARM ACTIVATION: 6:08 a.m., 555 N. Glenn Ave., Court House Manor – Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting an alarm activation. FD did not find any visible smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD was informed by a staff member of a false alarm and FD was not needed.

REPORT OF SMOKE: 2:54 p.m., 1430 Lindberg Ave. – Received report of smoke in the area. On arrival FD found a pile of mixed material burning in the back yard. FD put the fire out and was unable to make contact with occupant.

JAN. 20

REPORT OF FIRE: 8:25 p.m., 99 Summit Lane, Washington Park Apartments – Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a fire. FD was notified while in route of a smoke filled hallway by officers from the Washington Police Department and an apartment number. FD did not find any visible smoke or fire at the time of arrival and was advised by officer Hines of a fire on the stove. FD made entry and found moderate smoke conditions in the corridor and heavy smoke conditions once making entry into the apartment. FD confirmed the fire was out, looked for possible fire extension and proceeded with ventilating the building. FD spoke with maintenance on the scene and expressed concern of no smoke detector or fire alarm activation at the time of arrival or during operations at the incident. The lack of resident evacuations was noted.
