Washington Fire Department reports

The Washington Fire Department recently responded to the following:

DEC. 9

TRAILER FIRE: 5:43 p.m., 425 Peabody Ave. – Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a trailer fire. FD found light, white smoke resulting from the resident extinguishing the fire at the time of arrival. FD determined the material in the fire pit was rubbish, unauthorized burning materials. FD advised the occupant of the burning laws, regulations and procedure.

TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT: 4:22 p.m., S. Fayette St. – Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a two-vehicle accident. FD found two vehicles, both upright and on all four wheels facing east and both off the roadway in an adjacent parking lot with no smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD confirmed there was entrapment, established a safe work area and checked both vehicles for safety. Control of the scene was turned over to officers from the Washington Police Department.

ODOR OF PROPANE: 10:59 a.m., 1852 Old U.S. Rt. 35, M&M Distribution – Received call reporting an odor of propane inside the business and requested a check of the HVAC system and forklift(s). FD did not detect any leaks within the business or on any propane fueled equipment at the time of check. FD investigation found the propane supply tank for the HVAC system empty.
