Minimal damage occurred over the weekend when a Washington Court House woman accidentally drove her vehicle into the Second Chance building, 420 Oakland Ave., according to the Washington Court House Police Department.

According to a Washington Police Department private property accident report, Luella L. Puckett, 93, drove her 2014 Toyota Corolla into the structure around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

“(Puckett’s vehicle) was parked facing southbound in the parking lot of Second Chance,” according to the report. “(Puckett) attempted to leave and believing the vehicle was in reverse she stepped on the accelerator. (Puckett’s vehicle) was actually in drive, moving forward she struck the side of the building.”

At the time, Second Chance was hosting its second-annual open house and program director Chiquita Nash said in a Facebook post, “Everyone is fine,” but asked the community to, “Please pray for her.”

On Monday, Nash also echoed the report and said, “The lady in question meant to hit the brakes and accidentally hit the gas,” but was okay as far as she knew. She also said there was only minor damage to the Second Chance building.
