Nine-year-old Garrett Wahl of Wilmington recently got a tour of The White House and met with U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers, who gave him a personal tour of the Capital Building.

Stivers then escorted Garrett to the floor of the House of Representatives and allowed him to push the button to cast two votes during the afternoon vote series. One vote was the Trade Bill (HR 1295) and the other was for the Preferences Bill (HR 2200).

He got to have ice cream with Speaker of the House Jon Boehner and met U.S. Reps Paul Ryan, Tom Rooney and others.

Garrett met Stivers while attending Cliff Rosenberger’s inauguration in Columbus as Ohio Speaker of the House. He was invited to Washington during that meeting.

Garrett resides in Wilmington with Mike Wahl and his wife, Kellie. He is a fourth-grader at Belle-Aire Intermediate School in Washington Court House.
