Washington Fire Department reports

The Washington Fire Department recently responded to the following:

JUNE 10

WIRES ARCHING: 5:21 p.m., 1004 N. North St. – Received report of arching wires. On arrival FD found a broken neutral to the residence and electrical equipment inside the residence. FD shut off the main breakers and advised occupant of the needed repairs.

TREE FIRE: 4:48 p.m., 812 Delaware St. – Received report of a tree fire. On arrival FD found the mulch around the tree smoldering. FD extinguished the fire.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT: 1:41 p.m., 400 Block of Carolyn Road – Received report of a single car accident. On arrival FD found a vehicle had driven into the rear of a parked pick up truck. FD checked the scene for safety and applied absorbent to leaking fluids.

BOAT LEAKING FUEL: 8:46 a.m., 12350 State Park Road – Received report of a boat submerged in the marina leaking fuel. FD assisted New Holland Fire Department by supplying a 50’ boom to absorb the fuel in the water. Owner of the boat advised they had approximately 12 gallons total in the tank. FD remained on scene until the county EMA and EPA had been contact and the all clear given.

JUNE 9

BURNING CHECK: 11:20 p.m., 711 Peabody Ave. – FD received a call of someone burning cardboard. FD arrived on scene and investigated. FD found the occupants had a fire in the fire ring in the back yard and that they had put some cardboard on the fire. FD advised them not to be burning the cardboard. FD advised the occupant of the Ohio burning laws.

HEAT CHECK: 5:57 p.m., Gregg Street, Fayette Women’s Residential – FD received a call of a wall that was feeling hot. FD arrived on scene and investigated. FD’s investigation found that there were two light switches in the dining room wall that were hot. FD shut the main electrical breaker off to the facility. After the power was shut off the switches cool down. FD advised the occupant to have an electrician come look at it and make repairs.
