‘InfoSnap’ online solution streamlines student registration for Miami Trace

PowerSchool Group’s InfoSnap online registration was selected by Ohio’s Miami Trace Local School District to modernize their paper-based student registration process. The intuitive online solution will improve district processes, provide convenience for families, and maintain up-to-date data in order to raise student safety standards.

“It became vital to implement a solution that would allow our staff to better track student information. We want to optimally serve our school community and this solution will provide our district with access to imperative information before the start of the school year,” said Kim Pittser, assistant superintendent of Miami Trace Local Schools.

The electronic format allows families who have more than one child in the district to “snap” data from one student to another. SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, collects relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet district policies and then delivered into the district’s student information system, ProgressBook Suite, resulting in up-to-date records on the first day of school.

“The seamless integration with ProgressBook Suite is valuable. It’s not a struggle to get the two systems to talk to each other. The end product gives us a system of checks and balances improving the accuracy of student information,” notes Katy Zink, technology coordinator at Miami Trace Local School District.

Administrative staff will be able to expedite information to the appropriate personnel. “Student information is only reliable when it’s accessible to all staff. The implementation of our solution will provide us with data that is legible, accurate, and readily available. The reporting and communication tools will allow us to be more efficient as we’ll be able to track incomplete forms and identify students with medical conditions,” said Superintendent of Schools David Lewis.

Online student registration will launch on March 29 for kindergarten registration and Aug. 1, 2016, for new and returning students (grades 1-12).
