Fayette Garden Club holds Christmas Party

Twelve members and one guest of the Fayette Garden Club gathered at the Pinkerton House for their annual Christmas Celebration.

Upon arriving, each lady placed a toy or gift under the ceiling high Christmas tree. Gifts will be donated to The Well.

President Pam Rhoads opened the festivities by reading a poem entitled “A Difference Kind of Christmas.” Mary Estle offered prayer for the delicious meal they were to enjoy.

The rooms decorated in a Victorian theme added to the charm of the event. After the meal, the group picture was taken on the staircase decorated with greenery.

Members then proceeded to the living room where President Pam conducted a short business meeting. Roll call was answered by naming a Christmas fruit. Information was presented about Mistletoe, a plant usually associated with Christmas. Mistletoe is a parasite that grows wild in Florida.

The flower of the month is Astrantia, also known as Masterwort. This plant is an easily grown and transplanted perennial. Chris Boylan received the door prize.

To conclude the celebration, the ladies again went to the dining room, where they divided the two dozen cookies (or more) that each had brought for a cookie exchange. Thus each lady received a large variety of cookies to take home.

Attendees were: Carole Anderson, Chris Boylan and guest Sharon Boylan, Debbie Carr, Marjorie Clifford, Mary Jane Esselburne, Mary Estle, Julia Hidy, Jodi Kirkpatrick, Joanne Montgomery, Linda Morgan, Pam Rhoads and Jean Smith.
