The Fayette County Choral Society and the Fayette Community Band recently presented “A Fayette Christmas” for an audience at the historic Washington Middle School auditorium.

The concert opened with a brief introduction by director Richard Glass. He began with a thank you to the community for coming to watch. The Choral Society, with David Penwell accompanying, then began its part of the concert by performing Sing of a Merry Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells, Here We Come A-Wassailing, I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day with solo by Teresa Ford, Angels’ Carol, Mary Did you Know? with solo by Owen Ivers, Welcome to Our World with solo by Catherine Noel, and finished with Go Tell it on the Mountain.

A brief intermission allowed the patrons to stretch legs and grab a quick restroom break as the two groups adjusted the stage. Risers were lowered to the floor and the Fayette Community Band, with director Dennis Wollam, took their position on stage. The band performed Herald the Holidays, A Most Wonderful Christmas and Country Cookin’ Christmas. The two groups then combined for a grand finale of songs which included Christmas on Broadway, which combined several pieces of Broadway musicals, O Come All Ye Faithful and the groups finished with Lead On O’ King Eternal.

“Thank you for attending today’s concert,” the program reads. “We hope the music you hear will be a joy and an inspiration for you this Christmas season. We would also like to thank the First Presbyterian Church and the Washington City School for providing rehearsal space and the concert venue.”
