Two Fayette County residents were listed in serious condition Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening on State Route 753 near Bogus Road.

At approximately 7:24 p.m. Sunday, a 1997 Ford F-150 truck was heading north on State Route 753 near Bogus Road in Wayne Township and a 2000 Mercury Cougar was traveling west on Bogus, according to reports.

The Cougar, driven by Weston E. Porter, 25, of 4868 Lewis Road in Washington C.H., reportedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck the truck, driven by David Shoemaker, 47, of 716 S. North St. in Washington C.H.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office report, the front of the Cougar struck the right front of the truck and after initial contact, the left side of the Cougar reconnected with the right rear of the truck. The crash sent the Cougar north and came to rest on the right side of the roadway (State Route 753).

The truck was sent off the left side of the roadway and came to rest after striking the ditch.

Porter and a passenger in the Cougar, Eva Trimble, 49, of 12203 Reid Road in Jeffersonville, had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. They were both flown by medical helicopter to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for treatment. Both were listed in serious condition.

Shoemaker also suffered injuries and was taken by Fayette County EMS to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital emergency room for treatment.
