Members of the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department in Jeffersonville are inviting the community to continue supporting them at an upcoming “Pancake with Santa” event.

The “all-you-can-eat” pancake supper will be held this Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will be held at the Jefferson Township Fire Department and the menu includes pancakes, sausage links, coffee and orange drink. The price is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. and will socialize with patrons to the event.

“Tammy Zimmerman had heard about Flying Flapjacks out of Columbus and she discussed the idea of bringing them to the county with a few of us and we agreed,” volunteer organizer Robin Beekman said during an interview Wednesday. “We all thought it was a great idea for Chris Cakes to come down and entertain the kids and adults. It is very interesting to watch, the server will flip the pancakes to you. It looks to be a lot of fun.”

Chris Cakes of Ohio is a pancake company that looks to entertain while also serving delicious meals to customers. The organization, according to its website, has served four Presidents, was the “fastest flipper” for a Guinness World Record and has also been featured on the Food Channel. The business serves its special flapjacks for a variety of events including fundraisers, employee appreciation days, benefits and serves for churches, schools and other organizations.

The event will raise money for a new LED sign that the fire department wants to put in front of the building. According to Beekman, the sign will be used to update the community on a variety of events, public service announcements and more, while also serving to update the look of the building and the village of Jeffersonville. In the effort of raising enough money for the sign, the fire department is also selling bricks which will make up the base the sign will be placed upon. Bricks are $50 and can be engraved with special characters to honor someone, or to show support for the fire department.

”The community has always done a great job supporting us and we are excited to do something for the community by feeding them and also to get everyone into the Christmas spirit,” Jefferson Fire Chief Aaron Hauer said. “I think the sign is a big project we are taking on. It is exciting to have something that brings the technology age up in Jeffersonville and we want to be able to get information out to the community about the fire department. This is a great way to do both. Bring your kids and we hope they get excited about Jeffersonville.”
