The Fayette County Board of DD (Developmental Disabilities), along with the Southern Ohio Regional Advocacy group, is excited to announce that Buffy Enochs has been selected as a COOL (Council of Ohio Leaders) council member through the Ohio Self Determination Association (OSDA).

COOL members from different regions in Ohio meet quarterly. Buffy represents advocates from the SE Ohio region.

OSDA is a non-profit organization that empowers people with disabilities. Their goal is to expand awareness of self-determination principles, provide valuable training resources and promote advocacy efforts. The OSDA Board includes people with disabilities, family members, private providers and county boards of DD.

In her role as a member of the OSDA Council of Ohio Leaders (COOL), Buffy will advise the OSDA board on policy issues, will plan and coordinate the OSDA Project STIR leadership training for people with disabilities, and will assume leadership roles where she represents SE Ohio and OSDA in policy discussions and public speaking.

Betty Reisinger, Community First director with FCBDD, said, “We have no doubt that Buffy will represent our region well, she is passionate about self-determination, and mentoring others to recognize and use their voice to stand up and speak out for themselves.”

Buffy has attended the DD Awareness and Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse and has met with legislators and their aides to voice her concerns on such issues as the Marriage Penalty Act and transportation barriers within her county. Buffy is a part of the local advocacy group, F.A.C.T. (Fayette Advocating Change Together) and the Southern Ohio Regional Advocacy group that meets monthly in Chillicothe.
