FCMH advises non-emergency patients to stay at home Monday morning

Fayette County Memorial Hospital issued a statement Monday, Jan. 8 advising patients who have scheduled and walk-in appointments with the Medical and Surgical Associates and Same Day Care Clinic to stay at home due to current icy and changing road conditions.

For people who need emergency services, the Fayette County Memorial Hospital emergency room remains open during inclement weather.

The hospital statement indicates the Medical and Surgical Associates and Same Day Care Clinic will remain closed until at least noon Monday.

Fayette County is under a level one winter weather advisory.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a winter weather advisory for Fayette County and surrounding areas beginning 6 a.m. Monday.

The weather service reports that mixed precipitation of snow, sleet, and freezing rain in the forecast until 2 p.m. will make travel difficult.
