Fayette County Historical Society to hold annual meeting

0

The Fayette County Historical Society has been holding annual meetings for its membership for the last 50 years. This year is no exception.

The 2017 Annual Meeting of the Membership will be held on Nov. 9 in St. Colman’s Parrish Hall. A social hour will start at 6:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. sharp the meeting will begin.

After a short business meeting, the guest speaker for the evening, John Doerres, will take the floor. Doerres is a member of the executive committee for the Camp Sherman Association. This past summer, the association held a tour of Camp Sherman as part of Chillicothe’s retrospective of the United States entering WWI.

Doerres will have a short video showing rare photos of soldiers being trained at Camp Sherman. The Historical Society will have on display some of the WWI artifacts that were part of the Museum’s WWI exhibit this past season.

November has annually been the month for renewal of memberships for the Historical Society. Memberships are $5 for students under age 21; $20 for adults; $35 for a family; $75 for a corporate sponsorship, and $150 for patrons.

Though titled Annual Meeting of the Membership, you do not need to be a member to attend the meeting. This meeting is open to the public and it is the wish of the Museum trustees to see many new faces at the Nov. 9 meeting.
