‘Black vs. Blue’ for a great cause

With the big game between Miami Trace and Washington high schools almost upon us, the community has the opportunity this week to show their school pride and give to a worthy cause.

The two local school districts have challenged each other to a food drive that will end Friday night at the game. All food collected will be donated to The Bread of Life food pantry at The Well at Sunnyside in Washington C.H.

“Miami Trace and Washington Court House school districts are going head to head, but this time it’s to help those that help others,” said Brian Liff, an organizer of the event. “So bring your canned or non-perishable food items to your favorite school, Gusweiler GM Center, Gusweiler Toyota, or bring it with you to the game and help feed Fayette County.”

The winning school in the food drive will be presented a trophy at this Friday’s football game between the Washington Blue Lions and Miami Trace Panthers at Miami Trace High School. “We wanted to start this friendly competition between the two schools and we’re hoping to make this an annual event,” said Liff.

The Bread of Life is a food distribution ministry that takes place at The Well on Saturday mornings. “The Bread of Life is in great need of donations,” Liff said.

The Well at Sunnyside, located at 721 S. Fayette St., is an ecumenical Christian ministry organized to provide relief to our Fayette County neighbors.
