The Washington High School Class of 1957 celebrated its 60th reunion the weekend of Sept. 9. Friday evening, the class gathered at the Rusty Keg for a pre-game supper. Following the supper they gathered at the same Gardner Park that they attended 60 years prior to watch the Blue Lions Marching Band and the football team. It was a joy to cheer for both.
Saturday evening the class enjoyed a meal at the Crown Room. Classmate Becky Stockwell gave the invocation. Classmate John Knedler welcomed all and led us through the evening program, including asking all classmates to introduce themselves and say something about what has gone on in their lives the last 60 years. Norman Chaney introduced and thanked the reunion committee: Roger Boswell, Wilma Brown Dorn, Norman Chaney, Peggy Dowler Dugan, Becky Johnson Stockwell, Ron Knisley, Kathryn Melvin West, Dan Miller, Jean Persinger Rice, Judy Preston Ivers and Wanda Tracey Hughes.
Communications from absent members were read by Dugan.
A memorial service was led by Ivers and Chaney by reading the names of the 39 deceased members. A candle was lit in their memory.
The 30 members attending were Linda Anderson Sells, Roger and Janice Boswell, Elden Brown, Wilma (Brown) and Alvin Dorn, Beverly (Campbell) and John Langley, Dale and Joyce Campbell, Norman and Nancy Chaney, Bonnie (Clark) and William Dresbaugh, Sylvia (Cooper) Eckles, Peggy (Dowler) and Bill Dugan, Webb and Carol Ellis, William and Donna Graves, Robert Hall, James Hamilton, Gary Havens and spouse, Mary (Highfield) and Phil Grover, Gary and Judy (Preston) Ivers, Becky (Johnson) and Roger Stockwell, John and JoAnn Knedler, Kathryn (Melvin) West, Gwendolyn (Meyer) Bishop, Jean (Persinger) Rice, Nancy (Reno) and Ken Etter, Patricia Scott, William Shaw, Ron Knisley and Wanda (Tracey) Hughes.
