Runners and walkers are sought for the second-annual “Light Up the Night for LIFE 5K” to benefit the LIFE Pregnancy Center of Washington Court House this Saturday.

Sponsored by Heritage Memorial Church, the 5K event will start at 5 p.m. Organizers encourage the community to come and enjoy the fall evening as participants walk or run through the course that starts at the downtown Court House Gazebo. The 5K group will then travel through the city and on the bike trail to Christman Park before ending at the site of the new LIFE Pregnancy Center facility on Fayette Street in Washington C.H.

Entry fees for adults and children over 11 years of age are $20 if pre-registered before the day of the race, or $25 at the starting line. Children from 5-10 years may participate for an entry fee of $5, and babies in strollers are free. Registration is open and forms are available online at www.heritagewch.com/5k-registration/. Additionally, contact the Heritage Memorial Church Office at (740) 335-1079 for more information or to register.

“The Pregnancy Center will also be hosting an open house for the new facility at 238 South Fayette Street on Saturday at 6 p.m.,” Barbara Fox, executive director of the LIFE Pregnancy Center, said. “We are looking forward to sharing the new center with the community which has been so supportive in making this vision a reality. Please come and receive a tour of the facility and enjoy light refreshments.”

Fox said she was excited to share a few details about the facility and the work they do there.

“The new 4,100 square foot ‘Professional Center’ was completed through God working through the generous financial resources and volunteerism of this community,” Fox said. “This help center assists women and men during an unexpected pregnancy with medical, physical, emotional and spiritual support and resources. The board of directors and staff would like to thank everyone who made their concern for our moms, dads, born and unborn babies known through their charitable giving.”

Organizers also encourage the community to join St. Colman Catholic Church for their annual Oktoberfest, which is held at the church less than a block away. The Oktoberfest will also be held this Saturday, from 6 to 10 p.m., with a 50/50 raffle to benefit the LIFE Pregnancy Center. Other attractions include German food, music, bingo, dancing, and the OSU football game.
