The tradition continues…

It happens once a year! It has been happening for 26 years!

It is the annual Washington Court House City Schools Alumni Band performing with the current Washington Blue Lions Marching Band during halftime at the homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 11 at Gardner Park. This is a very popular tradition.

For the 2015 performance, the two bands will rock the stadium to the sounds of the 70s, including fan favorite “Long Train Runnin’.” The traditional script Lions will also be performed by both bands.

Matt Stanley, band director, asks that if you are planning to participate, please contact him no later than Sept. 9. According to Stanley, “We will be holding a rehearsal at Gardner Park from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the 11th to rehearse and put everything together. I realize that not everyone will be unable to arrive at 4:30. Plan to arrive as soon as you can.”

Stanley also wants alumni band members to know that due to the large number of students in the band, most of the school instruments are being used. He asks that “you please attempt to find your own instrument if possible.”

To contact Stanley about participating in the homecoming joint band performance or, if you are having trouble locating an instrument for the performance, please contact him at [email protected] or call 740-636-4221, ext. 4126.
