19-year-old Washington C.H. resident killed in accident overnight

A 19-year-old Washington C.H resident was killed in a one-vehicle accident just after midnight Friday on McCoy Road southeast of State Route 73 in Clinton County.

At approximately 12:16 a.m., Syth M. Rinehart was driving a black 2002 Dodge Dakota northwest when he lost control of the vehicle, which went into a counter-clockwise spin, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol media release.

Rinehart was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates Rinehart was not wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, according to the news release. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Wilmington Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Clinton County Coroner’s Office.
