Hospice to hold block party Saturday

Hospice of Fayette County will hold its second-annual block party at Streetside 62 in Washington C.H. this Saturday.

On Aug. 29 starting at 6 p.m., Hospice of Fayette County will be at Streetside 62 with bands, Johnny Lawless and Dumbfounded. Thanks to sponsorship from Parrett Insurance Agency, Lucky You, Lewis & Langley Realty, Fayette Home Health Care Supply, Halliday Lumber, Sugar Creek Packing, Pond Insurance Services Inc., and The Bus Excursions; as well as the support of the community coming out to enjoy a wonderful dining experience at Streetside 62, Hospice of Fayette County will be able to continue its mission by never billing a patient or family for end of life care.

Missi Knisley, executive director at Hospice of Fayette County, said they have been very blessed to receive community support for events such as this for many years now. She said it is quite inspiring to think that the community has been there for Hospice for over 28 years.

With that in mind, it is now Hospice of Fayette County’s goal to continue to create new events that not only raise money for Hospice, but will also bring something to the community that everyone looks forward to attending and can enjoy. Last year with the first annual block party, Knisley said she believes they achieved that goal.

“After working with a patient for awhile a family member of this patient, who is a member of a band, wanted to give back and play an event free of charge for us,” Knisley said. “We were able to put together last year’s block party in just 10 days and it was a great success.”

Hospice decided they are going to do it again. According to Knisley, Streetside 62 was a wonderful host and because of all of the supporters who came out to eat, drink, and have a great time, Hospice of Fayette County was able to have a very successful fundraiser.

“We would really like if the community could come out and enjoy an evening of great music and a delicious meal,” Knisley said. “There will be a unique special on the menu for the evening. We continue to appreciate all of the support from the community and we hope to see everyone there.”
