A 23-year-old Washington C.H. man has been indicted by a Fayette County grand jury for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Jeffrey C. Harmison is being held in the Fayette County Jail on a $100,000 bond after he was indicted on first-degree felony rape and fourth-degree felony unlawful sexual conduct with a minor charges.

The investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) began after the 14-year-old victim reported the incident on July 14 — the same day the alleged rape occurred. Detectives processed the scene at the residence where it reportedly occurred, collected evidence and interviewed Harmison.

Harmison “partially confessed” to the crime, according to the FCSO.

A search warrant was served at Harmison’s home, 825 Rawling St., where detectives seized a laptop computer and his cell phone. Both were sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for forensic analysis.

The alleged victim was given a sexual assault exam, and DNA was collected from Harmison and also sent to BCI.

After he was served with the indictment July 31, Harmison was arraigned in Fayette County Common Pleas Court on Aug. 1. His next pretrial is scheduled for Aug. 28 and his jury trial is set for Oct. 11.
