According to reports, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls:

Aug. 10

Found Property: A license plate was located on Washington Avenue. It was placed into property for safekeeping.

Unruly: Deputies responded to a residence on Spring Lake Avenue in reference to an unruly juvenile. The juvenile was counseled on his actions and deputies departed without incident.

Aug. 9

Driving Under the Influence: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Old State Route 38 on a suspicious male in a vehicle. Upon making contact with the male subject, he appeared to be under the influence. David Funk of Washington C.H. was arrested and charged in the matter.

Traffic Crash: Robert Miller of Mason was traveling south on Interstate 71. Miller made a change from the right lane into the left lane and struck another vehicle traveling south. No injuries were reported. Miller was issued a citation for failure to stay in marked lanes.

Breaking & Entering/Theft: Gregory Bentley of Washington C.H. reported that unknown person(s) entered multiple outbuildings and removed property.

Aggravated Menacing: Kenneth Reid of Sabina, Kansas reported that while at the Love’s truck stop, he was verbally threatened by an unknown person.

Protection Order Service: A protection order was served on a respondent pursuant to a court order.

Aug. 8

Domestic Violence: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Woodsview Court on a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that during a verbal altercation, a woman was assaulted by a family member. Brittany Swaggerty of Jeffersonville was arrested and charged in the matter.

Domestic Dispute: Sheriff’s deputies responded to Washington Waterloo Road on a domestic incident. Upon arrival, all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence occurred.

Missing Person: An adult was reported missing for three days. Contact was later made with the person and there was no problem.

Hit-Skip Traffic Crash: Sheriff’s deputies responded to State Route 435 and Allen Road on a report of a hit-skip traffic crash. The unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on State Route 435 and attempted to make a left turn onto Allen Road, at which time the unknown vehicle struck multiple cones and a traffic sign. The unknown vehicle departed the area.

Possession of Drugs/Illegal Conveyance: A corrections officer at the Fayette County Jail reported illegal narcotics were located on an individual upon intake into the jail.

Domestic Dispute: Two Jeffersonville residents were reported to be in a verbal dispute.

Fire: Tyler S. Massay of Bedford, Texas reported that while traveling southbound on Interstate 71 at the 72 mile post, his semi-trailer had caught fire. The Bloomingburg Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Aug. 7

Traffic Crash: Ian Knisley of Springfield was traveling southbound on the I-71 exit ramp to State Route 435. Knisley was attempting to make a left turn onto State Route 435 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Mathew Simmons of Spotsylvania, Va., who was traveling westbound on State Route 435. Knisley was issued a citation for marked lines.

Found Property: Deputies responded to the I-71 northbound rest area on reports of found property. A deputy obtained the property and placed it in evidence for safekeeping.

Domestic Dispute: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Joanne Drive on a domestic incident. Upon arrival, all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred.

Traffic Crash: Kendall Pollard of Washington C.H. was traveling southbound on State Route 753 near Hukill Road when she lost control of her vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a guardrail. The vehicle reentered the roadway, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left and struck a guardrail. Pollard was issued a citation for failure to control.

Theft: Sunglass Hut reported unknown person(s) entered the business, obtained merchandise and departed without making payment.

Drug Abuse: Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the investigation, narcotics were located. The incident is under investigation.

Aug. 6

Hit-Skip Traffic Crash: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a hit-skip accident on Creamer Road. An unknown driver was traveling southbound on Creamer Road and ran off of the road to the left, entered the ditch and then a bean field, causing damage to the field. The operator then departed the scene without making contact with the sheriff’s office. The case remains under investigation.

Criminal Damaging/Theft: Joanne Cornell of Washington C.H. reported that unknown person(s) forced entry into her vehicle and removed property.

Assault: Mitchell Daughterty of Bloomingburg reported that during a verbal altercation with a known subject, he was assaulted. The incident is under investigation.

Traffic Crash/OVI/Resisting Arrest/Obstructing Official Business: Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Barger Road and Stafford Road within Green Township for a vehicle on its side. Reports indicate that Willie Scott of Greenfield was traveling northbound on Barger Road in a 2004 GMC truck when he lost control, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. When deputies arrived, Scott became combative when deputies tried to place him under arrest. Scott was cited for failure to control, OVI, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business.

Domestic Dispute: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic complaint in Union Township. Reports indicate that verbal dispute between a male and female subject occurred with no assault or threats. The male departed the residence for the evening.

Aug. 5

Physical Control/Possession of Drugs: Deputies responded to the US 35 bypass off-ramp near the 22/62 access road to a complaint of a possible overdose. Upon arrival, a male subject was located on the side of the road sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle unresponsive. After a few moments, the male came to and was checked by EMS. During the investigation, it was determined the male was under the influence of an unknown substance, however he refused further testing. The sheriff’s office K-9 was on the scene and was used for a free air sniff of the suspect vehicle. After making a final response to the odor of narcotics, a search of the vehicle was completed. Drug paraphernalia and a plastic capsule with an unknown substance were located and they will be sent for testing. Chadley A. Robinette of Leesburg was cited for physical control. Additional charges are pending.

Aug. 4

Domestic Dispute: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Colonial Drive within the Village of Jeffersonville on a domestic incident. Upon arrival, all parties involved were identified and it was determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred.

Aug. 3

Dog at Large: Deputies responded to the 1900 block of Brock Road in reference to a possible aggressive dog running loose. Upon arrival, the dog was not able to be located. Information was forwarded to the dog warden for investigation.
