For the second time, Hayleigh Bageant was awarded the top prize Monday at the Fayette County Junior Fair Dog Show.
The 12-year-old received the Overall All Dog Showman banner, as well as an honorary chair, after showing her Doberman Pinscher, Levi, during the show just outside of the sales arena.
Bageant, a member of the Perfect Paws 4-H club, said Levi is a great dog to show.
“Sometimes it’s challenging to keep his attention, but he does a good job,” she said.
Bageant added that she trains with Levi on a weekly basis.
It was a busy day for Bageant during her quest to win her second overall showman award. She won her obedience Novice Class B and also her showmanship Intermediate B class before also coming out on top in the High on Trial (off-lead) competition and the High Combined (showmanship and obedience) competition.
Hailey Honicker won the High on Trial (on-lead) award.
Finishing behind Bageant in the overall dog showman rankings were: Tori Evans placed second, Matthew Honicker finished third, Tommy Smalley placed fourth, and Gabby Thoroman was fifth.
The class winners in the showmanship show were Tori Evans (Junior B), Hayleigh Bageant (Intermediate B), Matthew Honicker (Junior B), Tommy Smalley (Intermediate A), and Gabby Thoroman (Junior A).
