The United Way of Fayette County will hold its second-annual Scarecrow 5K on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The event will take place in downtown Washington Court House at 9 a.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m.) and will start at the intersection of Court and Main streets. The route will be similar to last year, but with a minor change to accommodate strollers.

All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and a t-shirt. Awards will be given for first, second and third place finishers for both males and females. Registration is now open and there are several ways to register. The event is $25 pre-registration or $30 on the day of the event to register. Debbie Bryant, United Way president, said to plan now to start your day with a 5K walk or run and enjoy the rest of the day at the Scarecrow Festival.

Registration is available at www.scarecrow5k.ezregister.com ($1 online fee) or by downloading the application from www.unitedwayfayco.org or those interested may pick up their application at 105 Main St. (WCH City Building)

All proceeds will help support The United Way of Fayette County and the funding of close to 30 non-profit agencies which offer help and hope to the residents of Fayette County.
