A 59-year-old Washington Court House resident was sentenced to community control Monday after reportedly overdosing on fentanyl.

John V. Dilley appeared in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas and plead guilty to one charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Dilley was ordered to be supervised by the Fayette County Adult Probation Department for two years and to complete his current course of treatment at Fayette Recovery.

Dilley was showing signs of having an overdose at 407 Western Ave. June 1, 2016. Officers with the Washington Court House Police Department and emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and found Dilley was unable to stand on his own and unable to speak clearly.

The emergency medical technicians administered Narcan to Dilley to treat him for the possible overdose and told him that he needed to go to the hospital emergency room.

Before placing Dilley on the cot, his girlfriend removed something from his pocket, reports said. An officer saw that the item looked like a drug abuse instrument and took possession of the item. The item was a plastic straw. A further search of Dilley’s pockets revealed a plastic baggie with a white substance.

Dilley was transported to the emergency room. He was later summoned for a possession of drug abuse instruments charge. Dilley said the straw was for snorting the white powder that had been in the baggie, which he said was Vicodin.

Dilley was ordered to pay the costs for prosecution in the case. The prison term for violating the sentencing is one year in prison.
