New Holland Lions Club announces Peace Poster winners

Each year Lions Clubs International sponsors a Peace Poster Contest for students who will be 11, 12 or 13 on Nov. 15 of that year.

Students may be from a school, church or any other organization that sponsors a youth group. This poster may be presented in any art media. The artwork must be done on a flexible material and be the individual student’s original creation.

Each group is sponsored by a local Lions Club. The New Holland Lions Club has sponsored a group from Miami Trace Schools for many years. This year’s Peace Poster Contest theme was “Celebration of Peace.” The student must compose a phrase of their own and then draw their interpretation of that phrase. This year our club had 105 entries from the sixth grade class at Miami Trace Middle School.

The first place winner was Aeriauna Urbina, second place Jordann Cockerill and third place Jacob Pettit. Each received a cash prize provided by The Milton Banking Company of New Holland. The poster paper was provided and cut to size by The Print Shop in Washington C.H.

The club thanks Brandon Armstrong, teacher at Miami Trace, who provided assistance with the project and Neal Rowland, former art teacher from Adena School District, for judging the posters.
