Five individuals were arrested Sunday at an East Paint Street residence after police found a large amount of crack cocaine throughout the home.
At around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Washington C.H. Police Department officers were alerted to possible drug activity occurring at 413 E. Paint St., according to reports. Officers made contact with a male resident identified as Casey Skaggs, 36, and it was discovered that the Sabina Police Department had an active warrant for his arrest.
While waiting on the warrant confirmation through the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, officers observed occupied vehicles at the rear of the residence, reports said. An officer approached one of the vehicle occupants, who advised that he was waiting on his son, William Dillon, who had to drop off money at the apartment. The officer ran a warrant check on Dillon, which indicated that there was an active warrant through the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
The officer then asked the female resident, later identified as Tuesday A. Toner, 35, permission to check the house for Dillon. Toner reportedly said that Dillon wasn’t there, but gave officers permission to check the residence.
Two officers entered the house with Toner while another officer stayed outside with Skaggs awaiting confirmation on the warrant. One of the officers in the home saw Dillon in the small kitchen area of the residence walking from the single bedroom with another individual, according to reports. The other officer inside the house saw a loaded handgun sitting on the couch in the living room that was connected to the kitchen he secured. The officers began detaining every person located in the residence.
The officers found a man hiding beside the bed, a female identified as Jamie L. Morgan, 35, of 230 Delaware St., hiding in the bathroom and a male sitting on the toilet in the bathroom. Police detained all of the individuals for officer safety. When Morgan came out of the bathroom, she was reportedly holding a 3-year-old child.
The man in the bathroom originally provided police with the name of Willie L. James along with a birth date and social security number. The information provided did not match at all through LEADS, police said.
While clearing the bedroom for weapons and people, officers located another loaded handgun under the bed.
Police ran warrant checks on everyone inside the residence. Skaggs, Dillon, Morgan and Toner all were found to have active warrants for their arrest. All were arrested on the warrants and deputies from the sheriff’s office assisted in transporting them to the Fayette County Jail.
Police also arrested the man who allegedly provided false information for obstructing official business. Officers found his wallet, which contained his Ohio driver’s license identifying him as Marcus L. James, 36, of Columbus. He also had an active warrant for his arrest, reports said.
A large amount of cash and narcotics were found in the pocket of James’ sweat pants, police said. The drugs later field tested positive for cocaine in the crack cocaine form, according to reports. He was also allegedly in possession of a baggie of marijuana and seven suboxone strips.
Officers then searched the living room after more crack cocaine was found on the floor near the couch where the first handgun was located. One officer found more crack cocaine in cellophane baggies in the living room dresser, along with marijuana and paraphernalia.
An officer transported James to the jail and another transported Morgan and Toner. While in route, the officer told both women that if they had any narcotics in locations of their bodies that could not be searched, they should advise before entering the jail or conveyance charges would be filed. At that time, Morgan told the officer that she had a hypodermic needle and drug paraphernalia in her bra, reports said. The drug paraphernalia was secured after she changed clothing at the jail.
Skaggs was charged with second-degree felony possession of drugs, permitting drug abuse and possession of marijuana. He is being held in the jail on a $55,750 bond.
Toner was charged with second-degree felony possession of drugs, permitting drug abuse, obstructing official business and possession of marijuana. She is being held in jail on a $56,500 bond.
James was charged with first-degree felony possession of drugs, fifth-degree felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, obstructing official business and possession of marijuana. He is being held in the jail on a $106,500 bond.
Morgan was charged with possession of a drug abuse instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in jail on a $2,000 bond.
