LIFE Pregnancy Center will soon have a new home

The LIFE Pregnancy Center initiated a capital campaign for the construction of a new facility in October 2015. At that time, the board of directors envisioned a permanent professional facility that specifically met the needs of the current programs offered at the pregnancy medical center and would allow expansion of services in the future.

When the capital campaign was launched, the cost for the new 4,000 square foot facility was estimated to be $400,000. Since the campaign kickoff in 2015, $320,000 has been raised in cash/pledges. The Center has been fortunate to have secured the majority of the financial support for this project locally.

Furthermore, the community is highly engaged in this campaign with volunteerism through “sweat equity” pledges and sizable gift-in-kind donations. In addition to area support, a grant was awarded from The Catholic Foundation.

Barbara Fox, Center Director, stated, “I attribute the success of this campaign to God working through the generous support of individuals, organizations, churches and foundations. We are so grateful for the sacrificial donations to the building fund. This charitable giving is a true testament of love, to help those facing the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy.”

The Center has functioned as a pregnancy resource center and outreach center since 2000 and transitioned to a medical center status in 2012. In the 16-year history of the organization, the Center has relocated five times. Fox claims that, “The previous Center re-locations definitely created confusion to returning and new clients and donors.” She adds, “It will be wonderful to have a permanent Center address.”

The new Center will be located at the corner of Fayette Street and Broadway Street in Washington C.H. and is in close proximity to the health department, which will offer high visibility for clients seeking pregnancy help services.

The new facility will continue to provide free and confidential care, including: pregnancy testing, ultrasound exams, individual peer consulting, community referrals, pre-natal and parenting classes, maternity/baby clothing and supplies, adoption referrals, pre-abortion consultations/education, an abortion recovery program, a father’s program and abstinence education.
