A 28-year-old woman was sentenced Monday to jail and community control after she left her 9-month-old baby at home while she went to a local bar.

Mendy A. Cramer, AKA Mendy Prye, appeared in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas with her attorney Thomas Arrington and plead guilty to one count of child endangering.

The Washington Court House resident was indicted in July on two counts of endangering children after she left her 9-month-old baby in her apartment with her 5-year-old son and left, according to reports. A neighbor reported that during the night, the son knocked on their door and was crying and shaking. The son said he was scared because he was alone with the baby.

The neighbor called the police and reported that the 9-month-old baby was found to be in the crib and unharmed. Law enforcement officers tracked Cramer down that night to the dance floor at Bottoms Up Bar and Grille in Jeffersonville. She was arrested and served 26 days in the Fayette County Jail for the charges.

Cramer was previously convicted of endangering children in 2011 in Highland County. According to police records, Cramer had a dispute with the father of her son, put her children in her car and attempted to run the father over at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly through McDonald’s parking lot.

Cramer was ordered to serve 60 days in the Fayette County Jail, minus the 26 days already served on the charges, and is subject to two years of mandatory community control with the Fayette County Adult Probation Department. She was ordered to pay the costs for prosecution and is eligible to participate in the Jail Work Program. The stated prison term for violating the sentencing order is 18 months.
