A 21-year-old woman who led officers on a high speed chase with her companion after stealing clothes and accessories from Tanger Outlet Malls was sentenced Monday to jail and community control.

Monai S. Wills, of Dayton, was ordered to serve 10 days in the Fayette County Jail and be supervised for a period of two years by the Fayette County Adult Probation Office on charges of receiving stolen property and possessing criminal tools.

Wills was indicted in June by a Fayette County grand jury. According to court records, Wills and her companion used a tool to remove security tags on clothing before concealing the items and leaving the shops without paying.

A Fayette County deputy sheriff attempted to stop the vehicle shortly after Wills and the companion departed from the mall but without success. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed to Washington Court House and forced one car off the road before driving off into a plowed field north of the city.

Hundreds of dollars of merchandise was found in the car from nine different stores at Tanger Outlet Malls.

Wills’s companion in the incident, Tyquinta S. Jackson, 22, of Dayton, is scheduled to appear in the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas Nov. 7 for a final pretrial hearing on charges of receiving stolen property, possessing criminal tools and failure to comply.
