Local gymnasts runners-up in home quad meet
Gaitten of Grove City led all scorers achieving a 31.6 all-around score to aide her team in the meet championship. Grove City was the top finisher at the Miami Trace Quad meet on Friday, Jan. 29.
The Greyhounds recorded a 120.85 team score while Miami Trace completed the meet in second place with a score of 105.6. Sheridan received third - 101.3 and Grandview brought in a 94.35 mark for fourth place.
Senior, Blue Lion Ashley Skaggs an (independent gymnast for Washington Court House), represented her school well. Skaggs tied her career high score on the balance beam as she was awarded a 6.7 score from the judge. She also had a season high mark for her uneven bar routine. With these two high scores Skaggs raised her all-around mark to a 25.5. The all-around personal best placed Skaggs in 10th place at the completion of the meet. She placed 7th on uneven parallel bars and 10th on balance beam.
The Miami Trace tumblers had four new high marks awarded them at the Friday performance competition. Brittany Miller, Leanne McCoppin, Jessica Parrish, and Chelsea Smith all achieved new personal best marks on their events. Placing in the meet for Miami Trace and standing in the award rankings were as follows:
