Miami Trace senior Nathan Williams, who was featured on the cover of the inaugural Ohio Locker Room football preview magazine, is on the Ohio roster for the Big 33 Classic all-star football game June 14 at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pa.
Williams, a 6-4, 245-pound defensive end/linebacker who has committed to play football next season for Ohio State, was coached at Miami Trace by Jeff Conroy.
"It's a big honor for Nathan and his family as well as the Miami Trace football program," Conroy said in a telephone interview Friday morning. "When you look at the roster of players and where they're going (to college) and we have a young man at that level, it's a big honor."
Conroy said Williams is running indoor track/field for the Panthers and will compete on the outdoor track/field team when that spring sport gets underway.
"Ohio State's going to be sending down their workout and what they want him to do," Conroy said. "He (Nathan) is definitely looking to the future with Ohio State, but he is still a part of our programs here at Miami Trace."
Other than Williams, there are a few players with local connections scheduled to play in the annual all-star contest in Pennsylvania.
Andy Cruse, a senior at Turpin High School, is headed to Miami. He plays football and basketball for the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Spartans.
Nick Truesdell, is a senior at Anderson High School, also competes in the FAVC. He will play in the fall for the University of Cincinnati.
