A former Wal-Mart pharmacist pleaded guilty Monday to stealing several types of prescription drugs from the store's pharmacy.
Charles T. Hodapp will be sentenced on Jan. 4 on the five counts of theft of drugs, felonies of the fourth degree. He admitted in Fayette County Common Pleas Court to taking Alprazolam, Effexor, Viagra, Diazepram and Lorazepam, drugs that were not prescribed to him, from the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Washington C.H. without consent.
The crimes took place from May 1-Oct. 21, 2008, according to the grand jury indictment.
According to reports, other employees at the Wal-Mart SuperCenter were witnesses to bizarre behavior from Hodapp, including angry displays. Hodapp admitted to "being high" at work from the drugs he stole, authorities said.
The store's security cameras also caught him taking some of the medication, according to reports.
Hodapp, who was fired from Wal-Mart, 1397 Leesburg Ave., on Oct. 22, 2008, said he took the drugs because of his depression and high levels of stress. He reportedly took hundreds of pills from the pharmacy.
Felonies of the fourth degree are punishable by up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Common Pleas Court Judge Steven Beathard ordered that there be a pre-sentence investigation before the sentencing occurs.
