What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

The annual Book Sale is here! There are plenty of nonfiction books, paperbacks, cookbooks, DVDs, children’s books, biographies and more for browsing and buying. The sale begins on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m., with the Preview Sale. Admission for the Preview Sale is $2. The regular sale takes place Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. is Bargain Day, where everything goes for $1 a bag! Be sure to bring your “Carnegie Bucks!”

On Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 10:30 a.m. children ages 0-5 are invited to “Party in the Park” with Aaron and Noel! We will celebrate the end of summer together with a StoryTime and Books & Blocks “Party in the Park” with games, activities, crafts, and play. We will provide a light snack and drink. On Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. children in grades three and up are invited to “Tie-Dye” at the library! Bring a t-shirt, handkerchief, socks, hair band, or anything you wish to dye with this zany project.

Bring the whole family on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. to the pond behind the Fayette County YMCA for “Summer Evening at the Prairie!” Celebrate the end of summer and learn more about the newly created prairie lands behind the YMCA. This event is sponsored by Fayette Soil & Water. Guaranteed to be memorable! The library is still looking for “Quidditch” players and teams for this event. Call the library’s Children’s Department with questions, or to sign-up!

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! Tuesday, Aug. 2 is “1, 2, 3 Numbers!” On Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. children all ages are invited to make a friendship bracelet for a friend. Join us! On Thursday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. children of all ages are invited to a “Nature Scavenger Hunt!” Track down nature items at the library!
