“Rolling Rimples” organizers recently announced the winners of their 24th program. Rolling Rimples is a weight loss program sponsored by the Fayette County Public Health and United Way.
This program is a fun, competitive weight loss challenge among businesses of Fayette County. Businesses that participate have as many teams as they want with four or five people on a team. A nurse from the health department goes out to their business once a month for five months and weighs each participant.
Those who are participating receive a piece of fruit that Kroger donates monthly. They also get a healthy recipe and notes on eating properly, how to eat healthy at a restaurant, or shopping wisely at the grocery and other health-related information.
This program consisted of 16 businesses, 30 teams and 129 individuals. At the end of the program the top three individuals are given gift cards in the amounts of $100, $50 and $25, respectively, with each member of the winning team receiving a $50 gift card.
The first place team was from Fayette County Memorial Hospital and they called themselves Nicole’s Heavy Breathers. The team consisted of Tim Green, Glenna Green, Jewel Thurman and Nicole Holler Davis. The four together lost 64.9 pounds and plan to keep it off.
The first place individual was Tim Green, losing 26.9 pounds. The second individual from Fayette County Memorial Hospital was Kristi Hicks, losing 26.6 pounds. Third place was Benny Jamison from Doug Marine, losing 22.6 pounds.
As always losing weight is one of the first steps for being healthier. Organizers congratulate all the participants and want to encourage everyone to eat healthier, drink more water and keep moving!
