Retired Teachers Association hosts hospital administrators

Mike Diener, CEO of Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH), and Chelsie Hornsby, foundation director and director of business development at FCMH, were the guest speakers at the Oct. 5 meeting of the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association.

They presented information on changes and upgrades in programs and facilities at the hospital. They spoke about funding sources and how those may change in the future. The two also recognized the many quality support teams and qualified personnel who are involved with the facility.

The Well at Sunnyside sent a note of thanks to the group for the many donations of school supplies to begin the school year.

There will be a retirement seminar on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 4:30 p.m. This is for any active teachers who are within a few years of retirement. The seminar will be held at the Mark House, next to the Methodist Church. Refreshments will be provided. Contact your school office for further information.

Fundraisers for the upcoming MRDD renewal levy were announced. This renewal was generally supported by the retired teachers.

The next meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 7 at Grace Methodist Church. Social hour will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch following at 12 p.m. Members are asked to bring Christmas toy donations to the meeting. The FCRTA will also be conducting its annual Banana Express visits to local retirement facilities after that meeting.
