Fayette County Memorial Hospital CEO Mike Diener said during a recent interview the hospital is making a change to their orthopedic service line.

With The Ohio State University’s assistance, the hospital has made great gains to orthopedic services line by providing local schools and athletes with top quality sports medicine. Diener said the Sports Medicine program set up by OSU has been a benefit to the hospital and local young athletes, but it is now time to again grow the line of orthopedic services.

“We realized that a large portion of our community requires a different type of orthopedic service that is geared toward the older population,” said Diener.

Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) is excited to announce a new partnership with Adena Health System in Chillicothe that will allow the hospital to grow its orthopedic services and provide more local treatment to Fayette County residents.

Adena has provided orthopedic services to FCMH in the past and recently expressed an interest in having the ability to provide more services at the hospital, said Diener.

“In looking at market share data, we realized that a large portion of our county continues to receive services from Adena. We are looking at the August timeline in bringing Adena back on campus to begin providing orthopedic services,” said Diener.

Orthopedic services will include office visits, an array of various surgical procedures, and emergency department call coverage.

“It is our end goal to make sure the residents here in Fayette County and in our service area outside of the county are able to receive as much of their care here, close to home, and then if we are in a position where there are services we cannot provide, we have established good partnerships so that we can then help the patient get those services as close to home as possible,” said Diener.
