The Fayette County Memorial Hospital Foundation is excited to announce the theme of this year’s annual gala: The Great Gatsby.
The Great Gatsby Gala will be held Dec. 9, 2017. This year’s theme of “The Great Gatsby” will be reminiscent of the 1920s. Iconic gold and black decorations will adorn the event’s venue and catered food will be made to look like things people ate in the 1920s.
The event will be held at the Mahan Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Washington Court House.
The 2017 gala is the FCMH Foundation’s fourth-annual gala since the foundation was created in 2010. As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Foundation oversees all charitable giving to the hospital through philanthropic engagement in the community.
In past years the foundation was responsible for helping to raise the money necessary to create the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Women’s Wellness Center. Now the foundation is focusing its efforts on raising funds to give the hospital’s emergency department a complete make-over.
Currently in phase one of development, the hospital’s emergency department make-over will begin with the front entrance this year. The foundation hopes to be able to raise additional funds through the support of the community to continue development in the emergency room to better serve the community’s needs.
“Our winter fundraiser is our gala and that’s where we get a lot of our funding. As you can see, it’s a big event,” said Roger Kirkpatrick, board member of the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The annual gala began in 2014 and the annual event has raised over $90,000 in three years to help support the community’s needs.
Kirkpatrick said the amount of charitable money the foundation raises increases each year and it all goes to support the hospital with things the community needs for local healthcare.
In addition, attendance increases each year for the galas. Two-hundred-forty people were in attendance at last year’s Winter Wonderland Gala and the foundation hopes to have 275 people at The Great Gatsby Gala.
